Answering God’s call to serve His people, OXFUMC, graciously and lovingly supports our community through ministries designed to include those seeking and searching.

Soup for the Soul

Community outreach designed to reach the elderly, underprivileged, indigent, homeless, and transients in our community by providing a free meal to nourish their soul and body.

  • When: First Saturday of February, May, August and November

  • Time: 11:00 am to 12:30 pm

Sweetly Reaching Out at Christmas

To support our local first responders, the OXFUMC’s congregation provides baskets of home baked goods to those serving the community on Christmas. Baskets are hand delivered directly following our Christmas Eve Church Service.

Night Out With Public Safety

To continue our support of Oxford’s first responders, OXFUMC Soup for the Soul and Youth partner to serve those visiting the event with a snack and games. This outreach event allows OXFUMC to meet and share the love and grace of God to many in our local community. Event is scheduled by the Oxford Police Department during the month of September/October yearly.

School Supply Drive

During the August Soup for the Soul Meal, the OXFUMC Youth sponsor a school supply drive and give away. This project supplies families with the needed classroom items for students entering the new school year.

English as a Second/Other Language

In 2018, OXFUMC opened its doors to offer free English classes for adult learners. Learners are furnished with all learning materials, childcare, transportation, snacks, and a specified devotion time.

Wednesday Evening Dinner

During the school season, OXFUMC offers a meal on Wednesday evenings at a minimal cost ($4.00 per person with a maximum family cost of $12). This is a well balanced meal served in an atmosphere of fellowship and love. Directly following the meal, the children and youth gather separately for a time of biblical learning.

Family Movie (Ballgame) Night

Another first for OXFUMC!! In 2019, OXFUMC, opened its lawn and doors to our community on Friday evenings during the summer school break. Family oriented movies provided a venue to share the love of God. We look forward to an organized Iron Bowl get together, so be ready, to Roll Tide or War Eagle!!!

Emmaus Cluster Meeting

OXFUMC continues to support the Emmaus Community by opening our Family Life Center to the Cheaha Emmaus Cluster for regular monthly planning meetings. Our facilities are also used to accommodate Emmaus Walk training sessions. OXFUMC recognizes the good works and God’s interaction with His people through this ministry.

Coffee and Coloring

Are you looking for a Monday morning gathering that combines the love of coloring with fun and fellowship? Well, we are looking for you! Come join us for coffee and coloring!

Crochet Class

Do you have a crochet needle and some yarn? Ever wanted to learn how to turn them into a beautiful blanket, shawl, or other item? We have the class for you and would love to have you as a member of our warm and welcoming group!

Interfaith Ministries

OXFUMC participates with Interfaith ministries to serve people in need in Calhoun County. Together we provide assistance and serve as an advocate for individuals and families in crisis. We foster interfaith cooperation and understanding as we provide a caring environment for people of all ages and socio-economic levels. Specifically, OXFUMC provides much needed personal hygiene items, snacks, and bags of groceries to supply Thanksgiving meals.

Community Enabler

To continue our efforts in supporting community based outreach, OXFUMC, is actively involved with Community Enabler Developer. This outreach organization enables the community to become sensitized to the needs of the poor and to participate in public and private advocacy for the disadvantaged by supporting their needs of food, clothing, and utility assistance. To encourage the sustainment of the organization, OXFUMC has an active Board of Directors member.
