Pastor’s COVID-19 Announcement
All the weekly activities and meetings will be cancelled at least for two weeks. Specifically speaking, we will be not meeting for Lenten Luncheon for two weeks. According to the letter of our Bishop, “We will assess the situation week-by-week to determine when it is safe to resume worship services, using as guidance the wisdom of our local, state and national health authorities.”
The letter says, “We are told by trusted health authorities that the best way to slow down the spread of the contagious coronavirus in Alabama is now — early in its progress. Congregations that long to be together in worship during a time like this, but who instead suspend services to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, are showing sacrificial care for others.”
Please be advised that we will do live-streaming of our Sunday worship service via Facebook Live, just like what we did last Sunday. Please stay ready and tuned by 10:20am Sunday morning.
I will be working on how to make our live-streaming better based on your suggestions. For example, sound quality (I have to do some research on it), camera angle (Facebook Live does not offer zoom-in and out function though. We need to move a phone camera to adjust a distance), and even PowerPoint slides (Electronically impossible, but I will wing it by doing some manual works. We will see). In addition to this, Angie will keep doing what she has been doing like recording and uploading a sermon.
We will continue to communicate with y’all through Newsletter, Church Facebook page (here), and our church website (http://oxfumc.org). If you have any further questions, please call our church office (256-831-3221) during working hours (8:30am to 4:30pm from Monday to Friday).
